We're Moving!

Wow, Wow, WOW!!!   I have to admit, I didn’t see this coming.

We met with another friend of Katherine’s.  He is going to help us with the creation, design, and marketing of our website.  He’s very confident, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and driven.  His advice and energy is exactly what we need to propel us in the direction we need to be heading.

Yes, we’re very lucky to have him as our guide and mentor on this new adventure of ours.

It’s also overwhelming…

Our first consultation with him lasted over three hours.  The exchange was a very enlightening and enriching learning experience for us.  His knowledge is endless and priceless to us.

His advice is also hard to acknowledge, to accept, and to conform to…

It’s hard to sit down with him and listen to his assessment of where we are and how we’ve done everything… backwards… thus far.

It’s hard to sit there and accept that we have to start from square one — yet again — with things.

It’s hard to scrap everything we’ve built up over the past three years.

It’s hard to sit there and accept that we have to rethink and rework everything.

It’s hard to sit there… and not cry.

It’s all so overwhelming…

It’s all so hard…

But no one said any of this was going to be easy…

And it would be crazy for us not to follow his advice.

So, with our new guide and new direction, we must start from scratch.  We must refocus and consolidate.

We must stop what we’ve been doing, leave it all behind us, and move in this new direction.

Yes… we must stop what we’ve been doing, refocus, and consolidate.

And how does all of this affect our faithful and loyal readers?

Well, it means that we’re moving our blog to a new location.  Exactly where, I don’t know yet.

Basically, we’re nomads and homeless at this point.

We have no idea where we’re going or how we’re going to get there.  We’re in the dismantling and packing phase, at this point.

Once we’ve found our new home, we’ll give you our new address.

Until we connect up again, know that you’re in our thoughts and hearts…

Welcome Home

Mom is being released from the rehab facility today.

The house is put back together for her arrival.

She has already sent several scouts ahead of her to comment on what I’ve done to the house — but now it’s time for her to see for herself…

Yes… she has had enough of others stepping in to help her.

She wants to take back control of her situation… her care… her life…

Stay in the Eye of the Storm

I was at water aerobics the other day, and a nice lady, Sue, started to explain why she hadn’t been at class for a while.  She outlined what had been going on with her son and his new wife and how she can’t wait for things to “calm down and go back to normal.”

I empathized with her—but cautioned her about waiting for things to calm down and go back to normal.

I don’t know what it is about certain people, but there are some people who live in a constant state of chaos.  They thrive on it.  Drama seems to either follow them or is stirred up by them.  Either way, when they blow into your life, they blow in like a hurricane.

Sue’s eyes widened and laughed.  Her life with her husband was very calm before her son and his wife moved back in.  Chaos seems to follow her daughter-in-law around, and since this young lady has attached herself to Sue’s family, Sue’s life has been chaotic as well.

Yeah, when you’re surrounded by chaos that is out of your control — and you can't get away from it — the best thing to do is to put yourself in the eye of the storm (i.e., in the calm, quiet part of the hurricane) and let the chaos simply swirl around you.  Try not to let all the strong winds and craziness of others affect you.  It may be difficult but don’t step out of your calm circle and into the hurricane or you’ll get caught up in the storm and lose your balance.

She nodded and realized that same thing was happening at work.  There’s drama all around her there too.  She’s been working hard at keeping herself balanced there as well.

All these things are good reasons for her to keep coming to water aerobics.  Being in “calmer waters” and exercising helps reduce stress and will make her feel better.

She agreed and added that she was feeling a lot better already — and class hadn’t even started yet.

In Over My Head

Have you ever felt like you’re in over your head?

That’s where I am…

It’s like I’m expected to juggle all these fragile porcelain figurines — and no one has taught me how to juggle.

I have to keep reminding myself to take one day at a time and focus on the things I have control over…

And let the rest…
                         :
                         : ... fall.
